Best place to live in Vermont - Thriving Community
Springfield, Vermont, is a classic New England town with a bustling Main St.  There are the anticipated stone churches with tall white spires and ringing bells.  Quaint parks dot the alleyways and are bookended by historical buildings.  You have the expected banks, law offices, dance studios, and the Town Hall.  But there is much more.

Main Street Springfield follows the Black River with Comtu Park overlooking the Comtu Falls, where you must check out the giant close pin.  Right next to the park is  The Copper Fox an upscale yet comfortable farm-to-table restaurant with some of the best craft cocktails in the area.  Shannon’s Upscale Resale is an incredible women’s boutique with fashions changing seasonally.  The Springfield Co-Op has you covered if you are stocking up for your camping trip, grabbing a breakfast sandwich, or shopping for dinner.  The Co-Op also has a selection of locally made foods and crafts, which are great gifts for the family or pet sitter back home.  Another excellent place for Vermont arts and crafts is the Gallery at the Vault (yes, it is in an old bank vault).  The Gallery is a Vermont Certified Craft Center and is not to be missed.

Main Street Springfield, Vermont, is worth a stroll just for its art and community activities.  Large building murals by local artist Jamie Townsend, along with wood, metal, and stone sculptures, are everywhere.  While you are walking around, check out our historical buildings representing Springfield’s industrious past, including the Springfield Town Library, The Woolson Block, and the Odd Fellows building (currently undergoing a marvelous renovation). While you might not think popping into the Springfield Regional Chamber of Commerce is fun, think again.  Besides the friendly staff ready to answer questions about business opportunities in Springfield, you can check out all the historical pictures and documents it has collected over the past 100-plus years.  But the real surprise is at the back of the office where life-size replicas of the Simpsons reside from their first appearance at the premiere of The Simpsons Movie.  That is right, Springfield is the home of The Simpson, and the movie’s world premiere was in our own Springfield Cinema 3 housed in the historic Ellis Building. So next time you pass Exit 7 on the interstate, head skiing, or plan an antiquing weekend, check out Springfield, Vermont’s Main Street.  You can bet we are all here to point you to our favorite place for a Maple Creamy, Chai Latte, of favorite breakfast spot.  See you soon.
