Springfield, Vermont was a world leader in the machine tool industry from the 1920s through the early 1980s, which earned the region the name Precision Valley. After the shops closed, the town began a steady comeback. Since 2011, Springfield has added gigabit fiber, the Black River Innovation Campus, new businesses and a rebuilt downtown.
