Springfield has many places that tell the story of innovation, craftsmanship, and community. One of the most unique is Stellafane, the historic home of the Springfield Telescope Makers.
Located on Breezy Hill in Springfield, Stellafane is more than a local landmark. It is the home of The Springfield Telescope Makers, Inc., an active amateur astronomy and telescope-making club based in Springfield, Vermont. The name “Stellafane” comes from Latin words meaning “shrine to the stars,” and the site has become known nationally among astronomy enthusiasts. The Stellafane Clubhouse, Porter Turret Telescope, and surrounding land are part of the Stellafane Observatory National Historic Landmark.
